Misschien dat ik mij later in de tekst van Bob Dylan's vaak gecoverde song Changing of the guards verdiep, maar voorlopig volstaat de fantastische melodie. Op de cd 'Twelve' van Patti Smith staat zó'n mooie cover van het lied dat (imitatio, interpretatio, aemulatio...) een nog betere versie onwaarschijnlijk leek. Léék, totdat ik de blanke bluesman Chris Whitley met z'n maatje Jeff Lang hoorde. Gemakzuchtig of niet, ik quote even m'n recensie-bijbel All Music Com: ""Changing of the Guard" is a different song entirely -- slow, purposeful, almost a hymn of a country gospel tune. If Dylan cares, he's gotta be proud about turning this barn-burning apocalyptic surreal poem into a forbidding love song."
